it is a profound spiritual practice and a perfect opening

Mindfulness Through Yoga

Optional Class Saturday and Sunday Mornings

Yoga - The Union of Mind Body and Spirit

Yoga is so much more than looking great in lycra, it’s a wonderful physical, mental and spiritual practice whose origins go back for maybe 5000 years. So you could say it’s been tried and tested

Yoga is a spiritual practice, The word yoga comes from the Sanskrit root yuj, meaning “to unite”. Yoga aims to create a union between body, mind and spirit, and ultimately between the individual self and universal consciousness. Such a union gives freedom from ego-driven thoughts and behaviours, creating a sense of spiritual awakening.

Yoga has been practiced for thousands of years, and there are hundreds of different interpretations and styles, but most agree that the ultimate goal of yoga is to achieve liberation from mental suffering. Although each school or tradition of yoga has its own emphasis and practices, most focus on bringing together body, mind and breath as a means of altering energy or shifting consciousness.

Mindfulness Though Yoga

Don’t worry about not doing it perfectly or getting it right – that’s not the point of this class. It’s to open you up to new possibilities and to help you make your yoga practice into your mindfulness practice too. We teach mindfulness through yoga

You could say that mindfulness is also the alignment of mind body and spirit, they are both vehicles to the same state of mind

If your attention is on that posture or stretch or even concentrating on not falling flat on your face, then your attention is on your body. Your mind is in your body and this automatically brings you into the present moment, quietens your mind and brings you into a state of mindfulness and universal mind beyond your thoughts.

In truth, mindfulness is yoga and yoga is mindfulness but let’s not confuse the issue.

The class concludes with a deeply relaxing savasana and body scan, leaving you relaxed.

This session is suitable for all levels and abilities, offering a safe space to listen to your body and rediscover a sense of aliveness in the here and now.

You’ll get to meet Connie at our Mindfulness and Meditation retreats, she runs two optional Yoga classes and loves to immerse herself in playing  with The Alchemical brothers Sound baths, wait until you hear her devotional singing at the end – it moves me to tears
