Transformational Mindfulness is For Everyone

People often come to Mindfulness to deal with stress, anger, addictions or to deal with chronic pain and it’s great for all of that, but you don’t need to be unhappy or unwell to learn Mindfulness………

Mindfulness isn’t about illness, it’s about wellness…..

Discover how to calm the compulsive chatter in your head. Can you imagine what it would be like to be able to rest from your problems, your worries, your issues and to find some inner peace at last? With a quiet mind, a whole new way of life opens up to you. Mindfulness is about waking up to life and learning to live with greater intensity, with greater clarity and finding more fulfilment in your everyday experience of life……………

What You’ll Learn

Not all Mindfulness courses are the same – This is Transformational Mindfulness
Click on the tabs below to see what each weeks class is about.

“Mindfulness can’t be understood in your head, it’s a state of being which is only available when you aren’t understanding in your head – Mindfulness is a quiet mind”

Real mindfulness is an experience, it’s a state of mind – a state of being. Right from the outset, this class will give you a direct experience of mindfulness for yourself, you’ll experience for yourself what it is to be completely alert and alive but with a quiet mind because, nothing else is important and ultimately there is no other way to teach you.

Having had this experience there really is no going back and throughout the course, we will build on this, we’ll explore the infinite possibilities this offers you and I’ll show you how to maintain and deepen your mindfulness and make it an integral part of your day to day life. Can you imagine the possibilities? Being able to switch off your problems, your worries, your stress and to get relief from the constant mental chatter.

Mindfulness has become a bit of a buzzword lately, and it’s great that people are waking up to the amazing benefits of mindfulness practice. But inevitably as it has become more popular it has become commercialised and trivialised and sadly a lot of mindfulness classes only scratch the surface. Mindfulness classes are often taught by people who have very little real understanding themselves, they may have read books, passed exams but few have ever really experienced a deep state of mindfulness and their own practice is very much in its infancy

Unfortunately, many mindfulness courses seem to be nothing more than intellectual study. And you can’t learn mindfulness that way. Lots of thinking about mindfulness isn’t going to clear your mind, it’s just more thinking and there’s far too much of that going on already! Mindfulness is learning to quieten your mind and stand back from your thinking and creating some quiet space in your mind – it’s most definitely not more thinking.

“If you really want to understand mindfulness, get all your mindfulness books together, build a pile, sit on them and meditate. Because meditation will give your a direct experience of what the books can only point towards.”

Click on the Course Outline Tab Above To See What You’ll Learn in Each Class.

How To Cultivate Mindfulness

The basic principles of mindfulness are very simple and there really isn’t much to learn. Mindfulness is not something that requires a lot of brain work or needs to be understood intellectually, so there’s no exam I promise. Mindfulness is a state of being, a particular way of paying attention that bring things into a new focus, it’s a whole new way of experiencing the world. There’s no point in trying to explain really, because for it to mean anything it has to be experienced directly.

This class is designed to help you experience a deep state of mindfulness for yourself and to give you the basic tools and principles to help you to cultivate a state of mindfulness for yourself.

  • Mindfulness of breathing meditation
  • Introduction to mindfulness and meditation
  • How to experience mindfulness
  • How to become the watcher of your thoughts
  • Hunting head monsters
  • The Power of Now
  • The Mindful Witness meditation exercise

The Way of the Body

The Way of The Body is a wonderfully simple approach to Mindfulness and it is the technique that we promote the most at The Now Project. It the most effective way of bringing mindfulness into your routines and normal daily activities and making it an integral part of your everyday life. By giving mindful attention to your senses, your experience of everything is heightened and you may start to gain new appreciation of life. With practice you’ll discover that your life is really a beautiful sensual experience for you enjoy, not a mental problem that you need to solve.

  • The Body Scan mindfulness meditation
  • The way of the body
  • How to get out of your mind and into your body
  • Body awareness
  • Using the 5 senses
  • Mindful eating exercise
  • Mindful walking
  • Chi Kung standing meditation
Sweet Surrender and Going Deeper Within The Greater Mind

In this class we explore the spiritual dimension to mindfulness. We’ll explore the practice of surrender which is central to many schools of mindfulness. Surrender is not weakness, it is strength, powerful action arises from surrender but it is clear action based upon reality, rather reaction created by resistance to what is. Surrender is the wisdom of cooperating with the flowing of life.

We will also explore the role of attention in mindfulness and the logic and science behind, the mindful practice of gratitude, compassion and loving kindness. We’ll explore how mindful attention is crucial for enhancing personal well-being and how it can a vehicle for world transformation

  • The wisdom of surrender
  • The power of surrender
  • Flowing with life
  • “The Tommy Cooper” meditation exercise
  • Einstein and the Buddha
  • Exploring chi
  • Mindful Intention
  • Introduction to energy work
  • Inner Body meditation
Emotional Alchemy

When you have been mindful of your thoughts for a while you’ll quickly see how thoughts and emotions are connected. In this class we will explore mindfulness of emotions, you will learn how emotions manifest in the body and how to manage painful emotions mindfully without reacting and causing more pain and suffering to yourself and others. You’ll learn you to turn anger into love, fear into peace and how to master yourself and act mindfully in the world rather than being unconsciously driven by our emotions.

  • The difference between thinking and feeling
  • The three types of feeling
  • The cycle of pain
  • The painbody, karma in action
  • How not to deal with feelings
  • How to effectively manage painful emotions
  • Dissolving pain meditation – from pain to joy
  • Heal within heal without – dissolving Karma

Beyond the Self

You are not who you think you are. That is just a thought about who you are, and you are infinitely more than that. In this class we will unpick your programming. If we live without mindfulness we are living in a false consciousness, made up implanted beliefs, past experiences and layers of learning and indoctrination. You will learn how to stand back and observe yourself, how to step outside of your programmed perception and see things as they are. You’ll learn how to observe unhelpful beliefs, unconscious reactions and ultimately raise your awareness beyond your programming. You can then override your conditioning, break bad habits and change unhelpful patterns of behaviour and self imposed limitations, and choose your conscious response to situations and live a conscious and authentic life of your choosing rather than the one that has been determined for us by our programing

  • Who are you?
  • Meet your ego
  • How to observe the ego
  • How to transcend your programming
  • Freedom from control
  • Escaping the matrix
  • Beyond the Self
  • How to access your higher intelligence
  • The conscious you meditation
The Energy Of Mindfulness

Mindfulness not only allows you the possibility of personal transformation, but it also changes the world around you. If you are happy and at ease with the world, then people feel that and they behave differently towards you. A big part of Mindfulness is paying attention to our attitude and what we are putting out into the world. If we are projecting fear or anger , loss or lack then that is the world that is reflected back to us. Mindfulness offers us the opportunity to consciously chose the quality of intention that we put out into the world . Adrian with demonstrate how mindfulness practices such as loving kindness, and gratitude and radically improve your life experience and that of everyone around you. You’ll learn how to make every interaction an expression of your mindfulness and how project into to the world a profoundly better way of living.

  • The energy of mindfulness
  • Loving Kindness meditation
  • Gratitude
  • The wisdom of Kindness
  • How to bring mindfulness into everyday living
  • Tips and suggestions to create space in your life
  • How to deepen your practice
  • Questions and answers
  • What Now?
  • Ongoing support – how we can help

I recently attended a weekend retreat at Burwell House. During the sessions led by Adrian, I felt uncomfortable. I... ended up leaving the retreat early. Adrian talked a lot about himself and his experiences, leaving less space for practice or hearing others experiences. The room was set up with a focus on the teachers at the front, rather than in an inclusive circle as with other mindfulness groups. He spoke disrespectfully of the wider mindfulness community, discredited evidence based practice such as CBT, and said things such as 'thoughts are stupid'. He expressed himself by swearing. I did not expect to leave any retreat feeling exposed to foul language during sessions, and personally insulted, as he made a personal comment about my unborn baby. Although I understand that mindfulness is an ancient practice and not all teachers have completed formal 'westernised' training courses, I do feel that a duty of care for guests on a retreat is important to ensure safety and well-being, and in my view Adrian needs some support in developing skills in listening and empathy, and I suggest the organisation reviews the good practice guidelines for retreats given there are vulnerable and unwell people attending.read more

I’ve just come back from my second retreat with the now project. I only wish I could say in words how amazing these... retreats are but it’s impossible as words aren’t enough. The team are the real deal, they don’t just teach how to be mindful they live their lives mindfully in every single way but they don’t act like they know it all and that’s because they haven’t got egos - not often you come across people like that. I’ve once again come away with peace and space and have been reminded of how to live my life more in the moment. Ive also once again come away having met some truly inspiring people. 10/10 doesn’t do this justice. ❤️read more

I’m not great with words but having attended one of the retreats this weekend I’m giving it a go! I arrived on Friday... feeling very out of my comfort zone - anxious about meeting new people and what lay ahead. The whole weekend was a truly calming and enlightening experience with some very emotional bits in between! Thanks for all the support. I look back (positively) and am amazed at how the “Now” guys were able to put everyone at ease without being intrusive or pushy enabling us to “let go” and put our trust in them and ourselves. Thanks also to everyone on the retreat this weekend - what a lovely group of people. Xxread more

My husband and I attended a weekend retreat in Suffolk. “Amazing” really doesn’t cover it but it’s as close as I can... get without writing a novel. I went with some trepidation and to be honest a degree of angst and cynicism, “what if I can’t do it?”, “What if I don’t fit in?” (I could go on!). From the outset the team were calm, welcoming, reassuring (without appearing to do anything) and completely non judgemental. They quickly made a group of strangers feel bonded, supported and supportive of each other without any artificial artifice. The weekend flows well, there is no pressure but clear simple explanations and practical steps, no bells, no robes no zen teachers who appear to have no earthly issues but people who are open and honest about their past , their ongoing journeys and what has helped them. I arrived on Friday stressed, and anxious I left on Sunday feeling serene, but more amazingly I awoke on Monday morning and the world seemed a different place like a filter had been removed and I could see and have perspective again. I shall continue to practice and will certainly be back.read more
