Thank you to everyone who came on our first Mindfulness weekend of the summer, what a lovely bunch of people; you made it really special. What an amazing weekend, the weather defied the forecast, the rain held off and Sunday lived up to its name and was beautiful.
The new barn is a great space to relax, eat and generally chill out and overlooks the willow tree on the little green which is a lovely place to hang out in the sunshine. And as always Tonia’s food was an all-round mindful sensation, and I had to sit mindfully with the discomfort of over eating for a good couple of hours.
Most of our guest came down on Friday night and we had a BBQ outside the Barn before settling down by the campfire for toasted marshmallows and a beautiful singing performance by our own Xfactor star Hollie Hilton. Thank you Hollie
I love working with people who are new to mindfulness and meditation, because, for me there is nothing more rewarding than sowing the seeds of self-awareness. To see the moment when the penny drops and people suddenly realise that they are more than their thoughts makes all the hard work worthwhile. To help people experience the liberation of being fully awake and absolutely thoughtlessness for the first time is the ultimate satisfaction for me. Because from this moment on the seed is sown and if they commit to their practice and remain whenever possible mindful, the seed will open, shoots will break free from the ground and emerge into the light and ultimately to blossom as a whole new way of living.
How do I know? Well I’m seeing it happening everywhere I’m watching people flowering in front of my eyes. It was lovely to see so many familiar faces from our previous retreats, come back for more – Maybe we didn’t scare you all off after all. I was amazed by the progress you’ve all made. It’s not always easy to be mindful in the insanity of modern living, when everyone seems hell bent on pulling you out of now and into mind made drama; but you seem to be giving it your best shot and judging by the degree of awareness you all demonstrated on Sunday your practice is deepening against all the odds.
